Restricted keys provide a highly secure method of administering security keys, allowing only authorized signatories to have keys cut. This system is ideal for homes and offices where security is paramount, and it allows for differentiated access to specific areas for various individuals.

Key Control and Security

A restricted key can only be duplicated at the locksmith who owns the restricted key system, and only by an authorized signatory on record. This ensures complete control over the key system and the distribution of keys. Each restricted key system operates as an individual entity, meaning no other locksmith in the world can cut restricted keys that are authorized and held by a registered locksmith. Each key is equipped with an identification number that is controlled by the owner.

Duplication and Access

To make duplicates, the authorized signatory can either have new keys made directly or must provide written permission for another individual to pick up the keys on their behalf. Restricted key systems utilize a complex set of blanks that can only be duplicated by the locksmith upon requisition by the user. It is illegal for another locksmith to attempt to copy or duplicate restricted keys that belong to a different locksmith. However, locksmiths can service and repair restricted locks as long as it does not disrupt the day-to-day operations of the restricted system.
