As there are so many locksmiths on the Gold Coast how do you know you are utilising the service of a reputable quality locksmith? There are a few easy things to check….
Check to make sure the locksmith is a registered and insured business.
As with any industry it is important to ensure the business has a current ABN and is correctly insured for the work and services they provide.
Make sure the locksmith has a security licence
It is a requirement in QLD for a locksmith to hold a current and valid security providers licence. In some instances it is illegal for someone to install or provide security advice if they do not hold the appropriate licences.
Industry Memberships
Check if the locksmith is a member of the Master Locksmiths Association or the Locksmith Guild of Australia.
Quotes
Asking for a quote either over the phone or on site is a great way to compare locksmith services. You should be asking questions like “what brand of locks and hardware you use” and “what warranty is offered”. The internet can provide valuable information on what brands of locks are quality.
Reviews
With the advent of online reviews you can get a great insight in to the experiences of other customers. Generally any rating below 4.5 stars is not good. You should drill in and read some of the negative reviews specifically.
Street address
Check that they have an actual street address. Use Google Maps and Streetview to be sure you are dealing with a legitimate operator that has invested in a registered trading shopfront.
