Commodore Keys Gold Coast

Terry’s Locksmiths offers sales, installations and repairs of Commodore keys across the Gold Coast. Call (07) 5601 1820 or visit our showroom at 2 Prosper Crescent, Burleigh Heads. Commodore keys from VR, VS, VT, VX, VU VY and VZ all have a sealed remote head with a battery that has been soldered in as well. Basically, you must replace the key head when it stops working.

On most cars you don’t need the remote working to start the car. On all the Commodores listed, the remote is also the immobiliser and can only be turned off two ways. One, by unlocking the car with the remote and starting the car within two minutes. Two, if the remote won’t unlock the car, open the car with the key and turn on the ignition of the car, if the receiver on the remote is touching the reader around the ignition it should start. If it still won’t start, look for the red flashing light to the left of the steering wheel or above the radio and see if it goes out when the key is turned.

If the light does not go out when the key is turned, it’s time to call us to provide a new remote. The good news is that commodore remotes are fairly cheap. Also consider getting a second remote as a backup. It will save you money in the event of a lost key.

A couple of tips: when the battery is running low on the remote, on VR, VS and VT you can sometimes leave the key in the on position to get the car going. This will only get you from A to B so do not rely on this.
